Paramore has announced the cancelation of the rest of the stops on their US leg of the This Is Why tour in the wake of Hayley Williams’ debilitating condition.
The rock band had previously only postponed four of their shows in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco, citing “sickness within the touring party.”
Taking to Instagram Stories Thursday, the lead vocalist wrote on behalf of the band, “After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping a week off performing and a strict medicine routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish off this tour strong.”
“I have been doing everything I can to fight this infection so we wouldn’t have to disappoint anyone with more news of postponements and cancellations,” the Still Into You singer shared. “After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with my doctor, we’re unfortunately realising that it’s past the point of wanting to push through to put on a good show for all of you.”
Williams revealed she is “now risking long-term damage,” prompting her to “pay attention to my body” and give it a much-needed rest.
The singer extended an apology to “all of you who were so patient with us as we rescheduled these and likely rearranged travel plans to still come out,” explaining she “physically cannot go on.”
“I know this isn’t great news for anyone,” Williams concluded. “Thank you so much for your continued support.”
Paramore was slated to take to the stage on Thursday in Portland, Oregon, and in Salt Lake City, Utah over the weekend.
