US Republican presidential candidate, Ron DeSantis was involved in a car accident on Tuesday in Tennessee, US, while he was on his way to attend an event, according to his spokesman.

"This morning, the governor was in a car accident while travelling to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee," Press Secretary Bryan Griffin told Fox News in a statement.

"He and his team are uninjured. We appreciate the prayers and well wishes of the nation for his continued protection while on the campaign trail," Griffin added.

Further details about the crash involving the Florida governor were not immediately available.

However, the Florida governor and his team were expected to hold three fundraisers across the state this morning and into the evening prior to which the collision occurred.

Recently, DeSantis has been extremely involved in his presidential campaign after making slight tweaks and changes among his staff and his overall media strategy over the past few weeks.

The fundraising event in Tennessee, where he was headed on Tuesday, was an addition to the governor's multiple fundraising events in the state throughout July so far.

Furthermore, in an effort to expand his campaign, DeSantis participated in the Tennessee GOP Statesman Dinner last week.

According to DailyMail, DeSantis is touching through southern states this week before heading back up to Iowa to move ahead with his 'Never Back Down' bus tour throughout the early voting state.

The governor will begin his bus trip in Iowa before moving on to South Carolina, New Hampshire, and other early-voting states.

Additionally, DeSantis is scheduled to speak at the Iowa Republican Lincoln Day Dinner on Friday in Des Moines.

The Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA), which had previously endorsed his rival, former President Donald Trump, gave him their support on Monday.
