American forward Christian Pulisic nears £20m AC Milan move from Chelsea
Pulisic initially joined Chelsea in 2019 from Borussia Dortmund for a hefty sum of £57.6 million
Chelsea's American forward, Christian Pulisic, is on the brink of completing a £20 million transfer from the English club to AC Milan. The 24-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, paving the way for his imminent move to the Serie A outfit. Pulisic is expected to undergo a medical examination in Milan this week, finalising the details of the transfer.
In 2019, Pulisic joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund for a hefty fee of £57.6 million, breaking the record for the most expensive player from North America. During his time at Chelsea, he made a significant impact, scoring 26 goals in 145 games. Notably, he played a crucial role in the team's triumph over Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.
His switch to AC Milan will see him reunite with former Chelsea teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who also joined the Italian club this summer. Their arrival is set to bolster Milan's attacking prowess and provide valuable depth to their squad.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has been actively reshaping their team this summer, bidding farewell to several established first-team players. Pulisic's departure is part of a larger exodus that includes Kai Havertz moving to Arsenal, Mateo Kovacic joining Manchester City, and Mason Mount making the switch to Manchester United. Cesar Azpilicueta has joined Atletico Madrid, while Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, and N'Golo Kante have respectively signed for Al-Hilal, Al-Ahli, and Al-Ittihad.
In another development, Chelsea's young striker, David Datro Fofana (20), has secured a season-long loan move to Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. Fofana joined Chelsea from Molde in January but only managed to make four first-team appearances during his time with the club.
These high-profile transfers indicate Chelsea's determination to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season, while Pulisic's move to AC Milan presents him with a fresh opportunity to showcase his talents in one of Europe's most competitive leagues.
