LAHORE: A suicide blast that killed over 70 people in Lahore on Sunday was carried out by a militant associated with proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan's Jamaatul Ahrar group.
The terrorist group on Monday released a photo of the bomber on social media and identified him as Salahuddin Khurasani, giving a new twist to the investigation into the deadly bombing. Earlier, investigators had established the identity of the bomber with the help of an identity card they found at the crime scene, claiming that the the attack was carried out by Yousuf, a resident of Punjab's district Muzzafargarh.
The Punjab Counter Terrorism Department then arrested three brother of Yousuf during a raid in his home town on Monday. The banned outfit also plans to release a video of the bomber.
The Pakistan Army and paramilitary troops have been ordered to launch crackdown against terrorists, banned outfits and their facilitators in Punjab, a day after a suicide bomber killed over 70 people in Lahore, sources said on Monday.
The campaign against the militants has been launched on the orders of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif who chaired two high level meetings since the deadly blast hit a park in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in a densely populated area, the sources said.
