Most financial markets throughout the world are closed today in observance of Good Friday, a market holiday. Any non-weekend day when there is no trading on the stock exchanges is referred to as a "market holiday."

On Good Friday, all financial markets are closed in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Singapore. The Nasdaq and bond markets, as well as the New York Stock Exchange, are closed today.

While Chinese equities started the day flat, the Japanese stock market opened higher.

As investors continued to pay attention to the US markets today and the jobs report that will be issued later in the day, Tokyo markets opened higher on Friday after high-tech stocks in New York gained overnight.

The broad Topix index increased by 0.35% or 6.84 points, to 1,968.12, while the benchmark Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.34% or 94.04 points, to 27,566.67.

US stock market closed today

On Good Friday, the US stock market is closed, including the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
