Netflix gives green signal to 'The Empress' for a second season
Netflix has confirmed the renewal of the drama series The Empress for the second season.
The streaming giant decided on the renewal of the German original series season 2 after the great success of part 1 which amassed 106,000,000 million hours viewed.
A Historical romantic drama series written by Katharina Eyssen is about a royal love story. The Empress follows the early life of Elisabeth that married Franz Joseph, the Emperor of Austria.
The first season of the show premiered on Netflix on September 29, 2022, and successfully maintained its position on the top 10 list of global streamers list within two weeks after it debuted. However, the upcoming second season of The Empress is expected to arrive in 2024.
The series can also expect to return with the same cast of seasons such as Devrim Lingnau as Elisabeth, Philip Froissant as Franz Joseph I of Austria, Melika Foroutan as Princess Sophie of Bavaria, Elisa Schlott as Duchess Helene in Bavaria and Jördis Triebel as Princess Ludovika of Bavaria.
