Pir Mazhar, Rafique Jamali, 30 others granted bail

DADU: Some 30 workers and activists of the Pakistan People’s Party, including some important party leaders, were granted bail by the district courts of Dadu and Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Thousands of PPP activists, including the local leadership of the party, were booked at various police stations of Dadu district after the assassination of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto on December 27 at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi. However, the district courts of Dadu and Hyderabad districts allowed bails to dozens of PPP workers booked at the police stations of Dadu, Johi, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Mehar.

Those granted bail from the Hyderabad district court included PPP leaders including ex-law minister Pir Mazharul Haque, president PPP Dadu Rafique Ahmed Jamali, ex MPA Ghulam Shah Jillani, Shafi Muhammad Memon and Ghulam Shabir Abro. Another group of 20 PPP workers got bail from a Dadu court.
