ISLAMABAD: Two dozen brigadiers have been promoted as major generals following an Army Promotion Board meeting held in the recent past.
Brig Isfandyar Ali Patudi, who is the son of Nawabzada Sher Ali Patudi (reportedly a close relative of former Indian cricket captain Nawab Masnoor Ali Khan Patudi also the father of Indian mega star Saif Ali Khan), is among the newly-promoted two-star generals.
The Army Promotion Board meeting took place last month following the Formation Commanders’ Conference and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani approved these promotions and a formal notification has already been issued.
Those who got promotions include Brig Syed Wajid Hussain (NDC), Brig Changez Dil Khan (MI), Brig Isfandyar Ali Patudi (Karachi Corps), Brig Zubair Mahmood Hayat (COAS Office-Artillery), Brig Noel Israel Khokhar (Rawalpindi Corps), Brig Shaukat Iqbal, Brig Mazhar Jamil (Gujranwala Corps), Brig Tahir Mahmood (MI), Brig Zamirul Hasan Shah, Brig Najibullah Khan, Brig Khalid Asghar, Brig Waqar Ahmed, Brig Farrukh Bashir (Multan Corps), Brig Ashfaq Nadim Ahmed (Mangla Corps), Brig Javed Iqbal Ramday (Royal College of Defence Studies, UK), Brig Qamar Javed Bajwa, Brig M Saad Khattak (ISI, Balochistan), Brig Sajjad Ali Khan (ISI Peshawar), Brig Khalid Mahmood, Brig Mohammad Tahir, Brig Rehan Bashir, Brig Waqar Ahmed Khan, Brig Zafarul Islam and Brig Waqas Ahmed.
