Governor Balochistan Magsi resigns

June 03, 2013
QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has resigned and forwarded his resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari, official sources said late on Sunday night.
Magsi’s resignation came after PML-N President Mian Nawaz Sharif announced at Murree that next governor of Balochistan would be taken from Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP).
Confirming his resignation, Nawab Magsi told The News: “It is a matter of routine. Since new set-ups are taking over in the Centre and provinces, I have sent my resignation to enable the coming set-up to appoint a new governor of its choice.”
Nawab Magsi said it is the responsibility of the new provincial government to restore good governance in the province, as people have voted and elected their representatives to resolve their problems.
“I hope that the new government in Balochistan would try its best to make things better,” he added. Nawab Magsi was appointed by President of Pakistan as Governor Balochistan on 28 February 2008 and had taken oath of his office on same day.
Zulfiqar Magsi is the Nawab of Magsi tribe. He is a senior politician and remained Balochistan chief minister in the Benazir Bhutto government of 1993-1996.
