Nawab Barozai to be consensus Balochistan CM

QUETTA: The government and opposition in Balochistan have reached a consensus on the name of Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai for the caretaker chief minister, who is likely to be sworn in on March 23.
The political parties, including the PPP and JUI-F, have agreed upon the name of Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai, which was proposed by the PML-Q and was supported by the PML-N, Like minded, provincial president of PPP Mir Sadiq Umerani and others.
“We have reached a consensus on the name of Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai for the caretaker chief minister,” said Chief Minister Aslam Raisani at a news conference. Flanked by the leader of the opposition Nawabzada Tariq Magsi and former senior minister Maulana Abdul Wasay, Raisani said representatives of different political parties had shown political maturity.
“After running the affairs of the provincial government, we have reached consensus successfully on the name of the caretaker chief minister,” said Raisani. Nawabzada Tariq Magsi also spoke on the occasion and said that they had reached consensus on the name of Nawab Barozai and added that Raisani had also agreed on this name. He said Raisani fully cooperated during the process for the caretaker set-up in Balochistan.
It has been learnt that Nawabzada Tariq Magsi and provincial leadership of the PML-Q had established contacts with nearly all Pashtoon, Baloch nationalists groups in addition to the politico religious groups and took them into confidence on the name of Sardar Barozai.
Maulana Abdul Wasay of the JUI-F, who had served as the senior minister of the Raisani-led government in Balochistan, also welcomed the nomination of Sardar Barozai as the caretaker chief minister. On the occasion, Maulana Wasay, while announcing the withdrawal of the petition filed over issue of opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly, said they had decided to withdraw the plea in order to give a message that politicians could sit on the negotiating table.
Barozi is the elder son of the first speaker of Balochistan Assembly Nawab Muhammad Khan Barozai and was nominated as the head of his tribe after the death of his father in 2004. He was born in 1954 in his native village in Kurak of Sibi district, Balochistan. In 1982, Nawab Ghous Bakhsh obtained his MBBS degree. He had also served as a provincial minister in the caretaker set-up of 2007.
