ISLAMABAD: The amendments in the election nomination papers will bring many tax-evading politicians into the net as 181 MNAs had declared zero income tax in their sworn affidavits when they contested the 2008 elections.
Others who had claimed payment of taxes included 98 MNAs who declared less than Rs100,000 tax and only 10 lawmakers claimed paying more than one million rupees, reveals a study by The News of their 2008 nomination papers.
Again, the tax amount mentioned by them was not verifiable since there was no mechanism in place to do so as is being evolved now through coordination with Nadra and FBR
to identify bad eggs.
