LAHORE: Muhammad Abbas Sharif, the younger brother of PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, died of cardiac arrest here on Friday.
He was 58 and is survived by four children, including two sons and two daughters besides the widow.
He was buried beside his father Mian Muhammad Sharif after Namaz-e-Janaza offered at the compound of Raiwind residence after the Maghrib prayers. Maulana Raghib Naeemi, the head of Jamia Naeemia, led the funeral prayers.
A PML-N media spokesman said Abbas Sharif died of cardiac arrest. According to family sources, Abbas was shifted to the Sharif Medical Complex after pain in the chest. There were reports that he died due to an electric shock, resulting in cardiac arrest.
Abbas was elected as a Member of National Assembly in 1993.

Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif will meet those coming for condolences on Saturday from 2:00m to 4:00pm at Jati Umra. The Qul ceremony will be held on Sunday at 1:00pm.
