HYDERABAD: The Chief Executive of Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco), Maqbool Ahmed Khawaja, on Tuesday advised the company's consumers to conserve power so that proper supply could be ensured.
He also called upon the Sindh government departments to clear Rs 4.8 billion outstanding dues so that Hesco could continue development works.
Talking to newsmen at a tea party given in his honour, the Hesco chief urged those using electricity through illegal connections to get their connections regularised.
He said the company supplies electricity to 1.3 million consumers across the province.
Khawaja noted that 115 grid stations and transmission lines of up to 6,000 kilometres are supplying power to the consumers with 640 feeders.
He said power theft is on the rise in Sindh, so the company has announced incentives for Kunda connection holders and asked them to get their irregular connections regularised.
He said a large number of consumers have installed air conditioners in their houses but have not informed the company and, as such, Hesco was not aware of any increase in the electricity load.
Answering questions, he said load-shedding would continue this summer and added that complaints of consumers were being addressed.
