LAHORE MURAD Ross, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA elected from PP-152, has submitted his resignation to Imran Khan as a gesture of unconditional support and loyalty to the party chairman. Murad Ross is one of three MPAs of PTI elected from Lahore. He won the 2013 general election from PP-152 where he had defeated PML-N’s Khawaja Salman Rafique. Sources said the decision of submitting the resignation to the party high command in a hurried manner did not please the local leadership which considered this move nothing but ‘point-scoring.’ However, Murad thinks differently. “I am ready to go to any extent for my country, my loyalty to my leader is purely unconditional,” he said while talking to The News. He said the party didn’t demand him submit his resignation but this move was done ‘voluntarily.’ Murad Ross said that he was even ready to submit it to the Punjab Assembly Speaker on the call of his leader. Meanwhile, in a press conference, Mian Mehmood ul Rasheed said they were ready to tender their resignations whenever the party demanded. The PTI camp is all set to reach Islamabad by August 14 for seeking ‘justice’ which, it believed was denied to it in the last general elections when its mandate was ‘hijacked through rigging.’ Imran Khan, the party chairman, through a letter to his Punjab stalwarts has directed them to put maximum weight to make the long march a sure success. Imran, through a directive, has urged his party’s youth wing and student federation to ensure a caravan comprising at least 100, 000 motorbikes in the long march. He has also directed the Punjab leadership to set up four registration camps in every National Assembly constituency, two in each provincial assembly area. A senior PTI leader said Murad Ross had not submitted his resignation to the Punjab Assembly Speaker, he had sent it to the party high command just to express his unconditional support, and every PTI MNA and MPA is
united under Imran. Meanwhile, Dr Nausheen Hamid, MPA, has been nominated as vice president of Central Women Wing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf with immediate effect by MNA and Central Women Wing President Munaza Hassan. Dr Nausheen represents the party in the Punjab Assembly on a reserved seat for women. She is also the member of Standing Committees on Health, Gender Mainstreaming and Treasurer, Women Parliamentary Caucus Punjab Assembly. She served as a regional organiser, PTI women wing, Lahore Region, from Oct 2010 to June 2012.
