Karachi Altaf Hussain on Wednesday felicitated Muttahida Bainal Muslimeen Forum President Maulana Tanvir-ul-Haq Thanvi on being elected as senator on a ticket of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. Talking to the newly-elected senator at Nine-Zero, the MQM chief applauded his success and ranked him a highly influential literatus in Pakistan. He also acknowledged his dedicated services to the nation, especially for the party and Karachiites. He congratulated the senator on his unopposed victory and said his induction as senator would strengthen the party’s power in the parliament. Hussain said his party wanted to eliminate corruption and discrimination from society and the system to lead the country onto the path of success. “We want to create a system on the basis of justice and respect for the country’s law.” Currently, he said, the courts in the country were fully free to decide issues by applying the constitution. Everyone was equal under the constitution and everyone had the right to get justice. Hussain emphasised that big fish who robbed the country should be arrested. He also demanded that people who borrowed money and kept it illegally should be brought to justice, and the recovered money should be deposited in the government’s account. He said justice should be for all without any discrimination of social status. Senator Thanvi thanked the MQM chief for giving him a chance to serve the nation and allowing him to reach the upper house of parliament. He also prayed for Hussain’s long life as well as for the party to achieve its destination soon.
