LAHORE: Eight newly-appointed additional judges of the Lahore High Court on Saturday took oath of their office for a period of one year. Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial administered oath to the new judges at a ceremony held at LHC Judges’ Lounge. The judged who took the oath include Justice Shah Khawar, Justice James Joseph, Justice Zafarullah Khan Khakwani, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza, Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, Justice Shahid Jamil Khan, Justice Sikandar Zulqarnain Saleem and Justice Faisal Zaman Khan. The LHC judges working at the principal seat, Lahore High Court Bar Association president Shafqat Mehmood Chohan accompanied with other office bearers, federal & provincial law officers, senior lawyers, officers of LHC and families & friends of judges were also present. With the elevation of the said judges, the number of LHC judges has reached 51 against a sanctioned strength of 60. Among them 31 are confirmed whereas 20 are additional judges.
