SWABI: The former class-fellows and acquaintances in his village hope that the newly elected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser would come up to their expectations. Belonging to Marghuz village in Swabi and having graduated from the Postgraduate College Swabi, Asad Qaiser was a noted player of hockey and volleyball. Asad Qaiser was a key Pasban leader and had served on different positions in Shabab-e-Milli Pakistan and Jamaat-e-Islami. He decided to say adieu to Pasban and joined the PTI in 1996 along with his colleagues and remained loyal to Imran Khan all these years. During a visit to his village Marghuz, his class-fellows and friends Sunday narrated numerous stories of his childhood and student life. One of his friends, reluctant to disclose his name, said: “Whenever he was playing marbles with us in our street or hujra, he was always a big loser but he never lost temper, and usually joined us the next day with more marbles. Again he would meet the same fate.” Another former class-fellow, Aurangzeb, said: “Asad Qaiser was a good player of hockey and volleyball. In our school team, he played as right-out.” Lawyer Muhammad Jamil, who served as district naib nazim in the past, hoped Asad Qaiser will handle the affairs of the assembly in a good manner. The people of Swabi have attached great expectations to Asad Qaiser and if he failed to deliver, he might meet the same fate suffered by other political leaders in his hometown.
