NOWSHERA: A presiding officer was sent to lockup for belatedly submitting the election result of the PK-12 to the relevant returning officer, it was learnt. According to details, Samiur Rehamn, presiding officer at the polling station set up at the Government High School Speen Khak was sent to lockup for submitting the results of PK-12 late by 12 hours. He took the plea that he finished his work by 03am and the delay in transporting the stuff was caused due to lack of transport facility and security. However, he was released later. Meanwhile, the candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) won on two national and five provincial assemblies’ seats in the May 11 general elections in Nowshera district. Unofficial results indicate that PTI candidate on NA-5 Pervez Khattak defeated Daud Khattak of the Awami National Party (ANP) by securing 69873 votes. Similarly, on NA-6 PTI’s Siraj Mohammad Khan routed Pir Zulfiqar Bacha of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Siraj polled 54,140 votes. On PK-12 PTI’s Mian Khaliqur Rehman Khattak bagged 29,049 votes and defeated former provincial information minister and ANP leader Mian Iftikhar Hussain, who polled 13,114 votes. PTI’s Pervez Khattak, who was also contesting the election for PK-13, stunned his rivals and won the seat by getting 26,915 votes. His closest rival and runner-up, Shahid Khan Khattak of ANP secured 14,813 votes. PTI’s Main Jamshiduddin Kakakhel won the PK-14 seat by defeating PML-N’s Ikhtiyar Wali. Similarly, the PML-N’s candidate on PK-15 Abdul Ghaffar Khattak lost to PTI’s Mohammad Idrees Khattak. On PK-16, the PTI’s Qurban Ali Khan routed Pervez Ahmad Khan of ANP.
