DAGGAR: Awami National Party (ANP) former education minister Sardar Hussain Babak succeeded in retaining his provincial assembly seat despite unfavourable circumstances for his party. Sardar Hussain Babak secured his seat PK-77 by bagging 10620 votes and defeated JI’s Jamshed Khan by a margin of about 2000 votes. JI candidate for PK-78 Habibur Rehman Khan defeated ANP Qaisar Wali Khan by obtaining 12228 votes. The ANP candidate secured 8491 votes. The JI suffered a big blow when former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly speaker and candidate for PK-79 Bakht Jehan Khan lost his seat lost to JUI-F’s Mufti Fazal Ghafoor by the margin of 600 votes. JI candidate for NA-28 Sher Akbar Khan won his seat by securing 2,5586 votes while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate obtained 2,1066 votes. The voter turn out remained 50 percent and great enthusiasm was observed in the area despite the threat of terrorism.
