MARDAN: Qul prayers for noted Pashto writer and poet Pir Gohar who passed away here on Friday will be held at Pirano Daga today. The deceased was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard on Friday. Political figures, poets, lawyers and people belonging to various walks of life attended his funeral prayers. Pir Gohar was born in Pirano Daga in Mardan cuty in 1930. He joined the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) before Pakistan’s creation and played a role in the independence movement. He received education till class nine before Pakistan’s inception and got his master’s degree after independence.Pir wrote several poems and ghazals and people gave him the title of “Shair-e-Amn” or the poet of peace.
