November 11, 2010
LAHORE
A UNIQUE and first of its kind beautiful exhibition, Silent Decibel, The Art of Music, arranged by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts in collaboration with the Alhamra Art Centre Lahore and Music Museum, Crispus Industries, opened at the Allamra Art Gallery Lahore on Wednesday.
This amalgamation of music with instruments oriented painting is the first ever effort to consolidate music research into paintings to establish the strong linkage between music and painting, which also reflects the feelings of shared identity worldwide.
As art is all about exploring and expressing new art forms, the 47 exquisite paintings created by Amna Ismail Pataudi, a watercolorist and Sana Kazi Khan, miniaturist and display curate by Aasim Akhtar have diverted the programme towards the flood relief efforts, accompanied by live musical and dance performances that devised new ways to create various thought provoking and surprising effects along with multi-media.
This unique presentation of paintings was enhanced by the dance and music performances in the inaugural show that was sponsored by Zafar Ibrahm, CEO of Online Music Muselum, US. The highlight of the night was a synchronised dancing performance, Jhoomar and other regional dances with display of paintings with a message to bring peace and harmony through meaning and understanding of art and music. The event also provided an opportunity for sharing and supporting the tough times together.
The event was supported by 47 paintings along with a catalogue, prints, greeting cards, coffee table book and display of musical instruments for educational purposes. Addressing the occasion, DG PNCA Touqeer Nasir said this composite painting exhibition of the world’s music instruments was the first ever effort to consolidate music research in paintings.
