Six MNAs, 11 MPAs have resigned over fake degrees

ISLAMABAD: So far, six Members of the National Assembly while 11 members of provincial assemblies have lost their seats for holding fake degrees. Majority of the members who resigned due to fake degrees belonged to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Jamshed Dasti of the PPP, who resigned for holding a fake degree, again became a member of the National Assembly after the by-elections. According to sources in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), two members who tendered their resignations for holding fake degrees belonged to the PML-N and the PPP while one member belonged to the PML-Q while one independent member is also included in the list.

Haji Parvez and Javed Hussain of the PML-N, Jamshed Dasti and Amir from the PPP while Nazeer Jut, an independent member, were also among those who had contested elections on the basis of fake degrees.

Members of the Punjab Assembly of PML-N including Yasir Raza, Rizwan Gil, Ajmal Asif and Nasir Mehmood, Naghma Mushtaq, Mian Azam of the PML-Q, Allah Wasaya, Rana Mubashar Iqbal, Mehar Badshah, Qaisrani and Rauf Khalid of the PPP while one member from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Gulistan Khan also resigned over fake degrees.
