Fake degree cases

2 more Sargodha-based MPs face disqualification

SARGODHA: Two more cases of fake degree against two parliamentarians belonging to the district are pending in the Lahore High Court Election Tribunal.

After the disqualification of MPA Rizwan Gill from PP-34, political bigwigs are active and have unannounced the election campaign. The PPP workers were celebrating the judgment while Rizwan Gill was consulting lawyers to move the SC against the verdict. The judgment against MNA Javed Hasnain Shah was also reserved by LHC Election Tribunal Judge Sheikh Azmat Saeed and it is expected in the coming week.

Petitioner Mehr Karam Khan Bahakar has pleaded that Javed Shah had contested the elections through a fake degree. He said Javed Shah had obtained the degree from a seminary in Bannu while he was an illiterate person and could not even write his own name in English. Talking to journalists on Saturday, Karam Khan said that the Bannu seminary had declared the degree of Javed Shah bogus and the voters of NA-68 would hear good news soon.

Meanwhile, the hearing of fake degree case of MPA Nizamuddin Sialvi from PP-37, Sahiwal is also continuing and LHC Election Tribunal Judge Azmat Saeed has ordered the Election Commission to present the record until June 18. Two petitions are pending against MPA Nizamuddin Sialvi in the LHC while two petitions are pending against Javed Shah judgement has been reserved in a petition. MPA Nizamuddin Sialvi had also obtained a degree from a seminary.

Meanwhile, the PML-N leaders have decided not to award the party ticket to the legislators disqualified for having fake degrees. The PML-N will introduce a new face in PP-34 while many candidates are in the race for the PML-N ticket. However, the PPP field the same candidate Dr Nadia Aziz who challenged the degree of Rizwan Gill. She remained MPA from 2002 to 2007. Pundits are considering her a strong candidate.



Three killed over minor issue

SARGODHA: Three people were killed over a minor issue at Chawaywala village, some 20km from here on Saturday. Mumtaz group and Naeem group had exchanged hot words with each other over some issue some days ago. On the day of the incident, Naeem along with his accomplices, including Mumtaz, Riaz, Sarfraz, Ahsan, Ali Nawaz, Sultan and Hafeez, allegedly opened fire at his rival group. As a result, Mumtaz, son of Mana, Mumtaz, son of Sultan, and Sarfraz, son of Ramzan, were killed on the spot. The police have started investigations after shifting the bodies to a hospital for autopsy.

DEMO AGAINST FACEBOOK: The Deaf and Dumb Association staged a demonstration against posting of blasphemous caricatures on Facebook here on Saturday. The protesters marched through different roads. They were chanting slogans against the US and western countries. They were also holding placards and banners. They demanded the government end ties with the US.

TWO SHOPKEEPERS INJURED: Two shopkeepers were injured in a scuffle with taxi drivers here on Saturday. Reportedly, the shopkeepers of Trust Plaza barred taxi drivers from parking their vehicles in front of their shops. This infuriated the taxi drivers and they attacked the shopkeepers. As a result, two shopkeepers were injured. The police are investigating.
