ISLAMABAD: Ulema belonging to different schools of thought here on Thursday said any kind of debate on the issue of Qadianis will be tantamount to flogging a dead horse, calling for promoting interfaith harmony in the country.
They said Qadianis had been declared non-Muslims in the Constitution and highlighting the issue at the time when the country was passing through difficult times was not appropriate. Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Munibur Rehman said according to Shariah and the Constitution, the followers of Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani could not be defined as Muslims. He also viewed that the country could not afford any controversy on such issues.
Allama Zafar Abbas Kazmi said it does not suit anybody to dig out the once-settled issue in accordance with the Shariah and the Constitution.Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaquat Baloch said Qadianis should not be allowed to preach their ideology in Pakistan.
