Call to stop drone attacks

April 09, 2009
LAHORE

THE Tanzeem e Islami (TI) Pakistan on Wednesday protested against the US drone attacks inside the territory of Pakistan and killings of innocent people by the NATO forces.

In a demonstration staged outside Masjid e Shahada, TI Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Akif Saeed said the drone attacks were an open onslaught on the integrity of Pakistan.

He said the government should take concrete steps to counter these attacks and refuse to become ally in the war against terrorism.

He said, “The nuclear programme of our country will also be targeted in the future if the attacks are not stopped.”

Another leader of TI, Mirza Ayub Baig, said it was regretful that both the treasury and opposition members called the US a friend of Pakistan whereas Muslims were being brutally massacred in tribal areas by this so-called friend.
