Demo against DI Khan blast

HYDERABAD: Activists of the Shia Ulema Council here on Friday staged a demonstration against the suicide blast in Dera Ismail Khan. The protesters staged the demonstration outside Qadam Gah Moula Ali after the Friday prayers. They chanted slogans against the terrorists. Addressing the demonstrators, Nizam Hyderi, Mustafa Hyderi and others condemned the terrorist activity and demanded that the culprits should be arrested as early as possible. Meanwhile, a meeting of the SUC was also held, which condemned the bomb blast.



First five-year LLB degree programme introduced at SU

HYDERABAD: A degree programme of 5-year LLB from the Institute of Law, University of Sindh, was inaugurated on Friday by Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui. Mazhar said Law education is most important education now-a-days to protect the human rights. He said education and justice are foundations of the society and added that without progress in these sections, sustainable development in society cannot be expected. Director Institute of Law Prof M Yousuf Leghari said the University of Sindh is the first university of the country to establish an institute of Law and introduce a 5-year LLB degree programme.



Registration of FIR against SPO, six constables ordered

NAUSHERO FEROZE: Upon receipt of a compliant from Advocate Nasrullah Khaskheli, Additional Session Judge, Moro on Thursday ordered the police to register an FIR against SPO Moro, Hafiz Baloch and six police constables namely Dost Mohammed Chand, Akbar Gandahi, Abdul Khalique Khoso, Ali Asgher Korajo, Aijaz and others.



CEC forms body on right of vote to overseas Pakistanis

ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Justice (retd) Qazi Muhammad Farooq has constituted a Special Committee on right of vote to Overseas Pakistanis under the chairmanship

of Secretary, Election Commission (EC), Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad. The members of the Committee are Chaudhry Qamaruzzaman; Provincial Election Commissioner (Sindh), Syed Sher Afghan; Joint Secretary (LGE), M Rashid Bhatti; Section Officer (Law) and Saeed Ahmad Khan, research officer. Secretary EC said the issue of right of vote to Overseas Pakistanis is gaining prominence in print and electronic media, particularly after the prime ministerís visit to Saudi Arabia. The prime minister assured the Pakistanis there that they would be provided the facility to vote. Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis is also persistently asking the EC to make arrangements for extending the right of franchise to the Overseas Pakistanis. The Committee will ensure threadbare examination of issue and explore some viable solutions.



US diplomat visits Mohenjodaro

LARKANA: US Consul-General Katherine Rodriguez visited Mohenjo-daro on Thursday. On the occasion, DCO Larkana Muhammad Jaffar Abbasi briefed her on the importance of the archeological site. The US consulate general also visited the Museum of Mohenjodaro and expressed her keen interest in artifacts discovered from mysterious city of Indus valley civilization. Later, DCO Larkana hosted a reception in which all the district heads of departments were also present.
