SPEAKER Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan has taken oath of acting Punjab Governor here Tuesday.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Syed Zahid Hussain administered the oath.
The ceremony was attended by provincial ministers, members of provincial assembly, social and political figures and high civil and police officials. Punjab Governor Salman Taseer proceeded on four day tour to United Kingdom. After assuming the charge of acting governor, Speaker Rana Iqbal Khan visited the shrine of Hazrat Ganj Baksh Hajveri to lay a floral wreath.
Earlier, Speaker Punjab Assembly was also chief guest at a ceremony of Emergency Service Rescue 1122 and appreciated the services of its staff for protecting precious human lives in different disaster like situations.
The Speaker also visited Quaid-i-Azam Law College and delivered a lecture on the topic of ‘The role of Speaker in Punjab Assembly’.
Punjab Assembly has issued notification of Deputy Speaker Rana Mashud Khan as acting Speaker after Speaker assumed the charge of acting governor.
