Notable economist Dr A. R. Kemal (Sitara-e-Imtiaz) passed away here on Monday due to cardiac arrest, says a press release.
His funeral will be taken out from his residence House no.106, Street 66, F-11/4 today (Wednesday). His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the International Islamic University (New Campus) Compound, H-11, following Asar prayers. He will be laid to rest in the H-11 Graveyard of Islamabad. APP adds: The Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) here on Tuesday arranged a special condolence reference to offer ‘dua’ for the departed soul and remember Dr Kemal’s valuable services to the country and the nation in the field of economic research. The reference was presided over by PIDE Vice Chancellor Dr Rashid Amjad, which was attended by heads of the departments and other officials of the institute.
The participants paid glowing tributes to the former director of PIDE for his unprecedented services to the nation, particularly in the field of economics. They prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and give fortitude and patience to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Speaking on the occasion, PIDE VC lauded the services of the top-ranking economist. Describing his death as irreparable loss for the nation, Dr. Amjad said that the vacuum created by his demise was very hard to be filled by any one.
