LAHORE: Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Sarah Aslam has directed the department to intensify dengue prevention activities across the Punjab.
She said on Eidul Azha special cleanliness arrangements should be made. She appealed to people that no filth of sacrificed animals and garbage should be thrown in open places and monsoon rains have also started.
Precautionary measures against dengue are very important. Citizens should be more responsible for preventing dengue during monsoon. Rainwater should not accumulate in residential areas, she said.
During the last 24 hours no case of dengue was reported across the province. During this year total 58 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported from all across the province and out of all confirmed patients, 28 patients has been reported from Lahore. No new case of dengue was reported across the whole province on Saturday. No dengue patient is undergoing treatment in all hospitals of Lahore and throughout the province. During this year, 28 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported in Lahore and no patient is undergoing treatment in hospitals of Lahore. In last 24 hours, 341,864 indoor and 73,192 locations were checked across the Punjab while larvae were destroyed from 721 locations.
In Lahore, 50,123 houses and 7,964 outdoor places were checked for dengue larvae and 551 positive containers were destroyed.
A total of 28 dengue patients have been reported in Lahore during this year and at present no any more patient is undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Secretary Sarah Aslam said precautionary measures against dengue should also be taken, besides of taking precautionary measures against Corona epidemic. She said do not allow storage of water at indoor and outdoor places as hygiene can prevent dengue mosquito breeding.
Be a responsible citizen by keep your surroundings neat and clean, she said and added that the public is requested to extend full cooperation to the health department teams if they come to their home or business centres for checking of dengue larvae as dengue can be very fatal, the secretary said.
