ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) is planning to hire a foreign coach for the preparation of the squad for the Asian Games to be held in Pakistan in 2023.
Pakistan Taekwondo Federation president Lt Col (r) Waseem Ahmed, who met Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Lt Col (r) Asif Zaman, requested for government support to hire the foreign coach.
“We would soon be sending an official request to the government for hiring services of coach for preparation of the 14th SA Games. I have taken up the matter with PSB DG who has accepted my request and most probably we would hire the best available Korean coach for the purpose,” PTF president said.
During the meeting, the DG also shared pertinent features of the under formulation National Sports Policy with them and obtained their take on this issue. The DG asked the Federation for sharing the two-year training plans prepared by them. The DG also released grants for the development of sports and preparation of upcoming events to PTF. Rs2 million was released to the taekwondo federation as an annual grant.
