MARDAN: Hundreds of teaching and non-teaching staff of the Engineering University Mardan on Monday staged a protest against the police for using force against protesting teachers in recently in Peshawar.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands. The protest was led by Engineer Jalal Khan, Teachers Union, president, and Zahid Khan, Employees Union, president. A number of teachers and other employees participated in the protest.
The protesters condemned the police baton charge and use of teargas shells on the members of the All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association. They criticised the government for the use of force against teachers. Extending support to the teachers, they assured them that they would stand by them. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
