Two teenage motorbike thieves let off with a warning

Police on Wednesday released two teenage boys after a brief detention over their alleged involvement in motorcycle thefts in Karachi.

According to police, the boys aged about 14 years were taken into custody during separate raids in Dhoraji and Bahadurabad areas. Police said the suspects were the students of Grade VII and Grade VIII at private schools in Karachi. One of the boys, Abdul Rafay, is the head boy at his school.

They used to steal motorcycles, and after using them for around a couple of days, parked them anywhere in the city. Police arrested Rafay with the help of CCTV footage, which showed him stealing a motorcycle.

They added that both the boys had been stolen about half a dozen motorcycles in Dhoraji and Bahadurabad areas. Two motorcycles were also recovered on the information provided by them. Police said the boys were released after a warning and handed over to their parents while keeping their future in view.
