Bannu Auditorium echoes with ‘Ya Qurban’

Grand finale to be held in Peshawar on Dec 27

PESHAWAR: The last programme of the ‘Ya Qurban’ series was held at Bannu Auditorium in which 40 amateur singers participated.

According to a press release issued on Monday, the music competition was started at morning and continued for the whole day, which attracted a large number of audiences from around the city.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Culture had organised the event to hunt new talent and provide an opportunity of recreation to the people and they also know about their local culture, traditions, history and music.

Earlier, around 50 new music lovers and amateur singers made registration for the competition but 40 turned up and took part in the divisional level event.

Famous musicians Prof A. R Anwar, Fazal Wahab Dard and Sardar Ali Bannusi performed as judges while Assistant Commissioner Bannu Fawad Khan was the chief guest.

The Culture Department representative Kashif Jan and other officials were also present.

In the Pashto Tappa contest, the first prize of Rs0.1 million cash was awarded to Falak Niaz. He was also given Gulnar Begum Award. Zahooruddin clinched second and Mirza Alam third positions and were given Rs75,000 and Rs50,000, respectively.

The music contests were earlier held in Mardan, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Malakand, Dera Ismail Khan and Kohat divisions, in which many amateur singers and youngsters participated.

The grand finale among each divisional level three position holders will be held on December 27 in Peshawar.

In the grand finale, the first position holder will be given Rs0.3 million and Ahmad Khan Ustad Award while Rs0.2 million and Rs0.1 million will be given to the second and third position holders in the forthcoming music contest.
