Zohaib Tariq, a student of HITEC University, managed to capture a place by getting into the top 50 of the World Photography Organisation (WPO) competition, in which photographers from 171 countries participated, that includes UK, USA, India, Bangladesh, and other countries of the world, says a press release.
The work of Zohaib Tariq, belongs to district Chakwal, was selected among 6,675 images from over 171 countries in ‘Youth under-19 Cultural’ category. His photographs were shown globally on the World Photography Organisation (WPO) website and digitally at Somerset House, London as a part of exhibition by Sony World Photography Awards 2015, which was named ‘Commended Winner’ of the cultural category.
His work titled ‘Colours of South Asia’ comprised the cultural life in Pakistan and he tried to depict the diversity and richness of our cultural heritage through the lens of his camera. He titled his work as ‘Colours of South Asia" just to add a texture peace and harmony in our region, mainly Pakistan and India.’
The photography competition ‘Sony World Photography Awards’ invited him to London to participate in the event the WPO had arranged in honour of the winners of this coveted competition but he could not attend it due to his tight studies schedule.
He informed that photography is his passion and he would continue capturing the colours of life across Pakistan and tell the world the real and beautiful face of the country to the people around the globe.
"The people here in Pakistan are simple, pure, humble and so original. They mainly live on agricultural earnings, may be peanut or wheat or some perhaps use livestock to earn. Well...That was the whole idea behind the photo,’ he said.
Zohaib is currently working for ‘HITEC university press club,’ he said that his ideas and skills are being polished there. Zohaib said that he was encouraged by his
selection by the WPO and would take part in other international competition in coming days.
