4 more die in twin cities taking death toll to 28

Rawalpindi : Another four confirmed patients of coronavirus illness, COVID-19 died here in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in last 24 hours taking total number of deaths caused by the virus so far to 28 in the region from where a total of 769 confirmed patients of the disease have so far been reported including 94 patients who are in isolation at their homes in Rawalpindi district.

Data collected by ‘The News’ on Tuesday reveals that the COVID-19 claimed three lives in Rawalpindi district and one in Islamabad Capital Territory in last 24 hours. To date, a total of 24 patients have died of the illness in Rawalpindi while four in the federal capital.

A total of 414 confirmed patients of coronavirus illness have so far been registered with the healthcare facilities designated for corona management in the district while 94 confirmed patients of the disease are being kept at their homes in isolation.

In the federal capital, a total of 261 patients have been confirmed positive for the illness so far of which majority of patients have been in isolation at their homes.

Death of three more confirmed patients of COVID-19 in last 24 hours took the death toll to 24 in the district from where as many as 17 new patients have been tested positive while to date, a total of 118 patients have been discharged after treatment, said Executive District Officer (Health) Rawalpindi Dr. Sohail Ahmed Chaudhary while talking to ‘The News’ on Tuesday.

He added that a total of 272 confirmed patients of the disease were undergoing treatment at the healthcare facilities in town including Corona Management Centre in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Benazir Bhutto Hospital.

He said the patients died in last 24 hours were undergoing treatment at CMC in RIU and BBH. The district health department has been keeping as many as 94 confirmed patients of the disease at their homes in isolation as they are all asymptomatic though their health is being monitored on regular basis, he said.

Talking of persons under quarantine, he said a total of 837 persons have been under quarantine in the district including six persons belonging to ‘Tableeghi Jamaat’ who are under quarantine in Zakariya Masjid in Westridge Rawalpindi while 831 at their homes.

Meanwhile, as many as 16 patients have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the federal capital in last 24 hours where a total of 221 active cases were undergoing treatment on Tuesday. To date, a total of 36 confirmed patients have recovered from the disease in ICT while four died of the illness according to the official figure updated by National Command and Control Centre on Tuesday morning.
