This letter refers to the article ‘Whose case is strong on IGP Sindh?’ (Feb 7, 2020). The writer highlights the ongoing tussle between the Sindh government and the centre.
It is a well-known fact that economic downturns lead to higher crime rates. Unfortunately, our government, as usual, has been unprepared and chose not to allocate any additional resources towards policing and is now blaming the IG for the rise in crime. Simply replacing police escorts for VIPs with security guards would go a long way in freeing up more resources to combat the resurgence in crime.
