The news of Saba Qamar and Noman Ijaz – two of industry’s most diverse and incredible actors – coming together for a web series had us excited earlier this year. The two recently started shooting in Lahore for the series, titled Mr and Mrs Shameem, that is expected to release on an international streaming site. To top it off, it is being directed by one of the leading directors, Kashif Nisar (Dar Si Jati Hai Sila, Inkaar) while the script is penned by Saji Gul of O’Rangreza fame.
“The web series is about a couple who doesn’t conform to gender roles and expectations,” Saji Gul told Instep, adding, “It is a story of friendship and trust that is deeper than love.”
The writer also shared that Noman Ijaz is playing a straight but effeminate character. “Another unique character is born as he is now painting it with his gestures what I sketched with my words,” the writer recently posted on his social media, with a picture of Noman Ijaz in character.
He also shared a picture of Saba, stating, “The unbeatable Saba...lucky to have the unmatched diva perform the most challenging character I’ve written ever.”We are eagerly waiting for the series to release so that we can watch these powerhouse performers onscreen together.
