Deadline for asset declaration scheme extended

Islamabad: The government on Sunday extended deadline for declaration of assets till July 3.

The announcement was made by Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Shiekh at a press conference.

He was accompanied by Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar and Chairman of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi.

The advisor said people can benefit from government's asset declaration scheme till July 3, during bank timings.

He added, overseas Pakistanis must benefit from the scheme. Hafeez Sheikh said the scheme was in the last phase.

The advisor said the government intends to form a commission on benami properties.

Earlier in the day, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had issued ads regarding the expiry of deadline for asset declaration scheme.

According to the ads published in several newspapers, Sunday June 30, 2019 was the last date for declaration of assets.

The government announced a five percent reward for those sharing information about people hiding their assets.

Federal Cabinet had approved the Tax Amnesty Scheme on May 14.
