MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood on Sunday said senior diplomat Sohail Mahmood will replace Tehmina Janjua as foreign secretary.
Speaking to the media, the foreign minister applauded Janjua for handling difficult situations in an excellent manner.
Janjua was the first woman to become Pakistan’s foreign secretary.
Mahmood is currently serving as Pakistan's High Commissioner to India.
He previously served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Turkey. Before that, he served as the ambassador to Thailand and permanent representative to the UNESCP Bangkok for four years till 2013.
Responding to questions regarding political situation, the minister Shah urged the opposition parties support the government in resolving issues facing the country.
He said leaders of the political parties play positive role in security matters of the country, putting aside their differences.
The Foreign Minister said despite different kinds of challenges, the government is trying to bring the country on the way of development.
