As tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours escalated in the wake of recent surgical strikes carried out by India after it violated the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistan artists got banned from collaborating in projects from the other side of the border.

Sharing his stance on what he feels about the sanctions imposed on Pakistani artists, acclaimed Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh said, "I am very cognisant that there is this school of thought that one should not mix art and sport with it, they are two different realms."

He added, "But at the same time, us as artists and sportsmen, we are not sacrificing the same way that some of our compatriots are. Art and sports are different realms. The boundaries should be different."

Pakistan on Wednesday shot down two Indian fighter jets that had violated the country's airspace, taking pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman into custody.

In an unprecedented gesture of peace, Pakistan handed over the captured pilot to India on Friday.
