After hectic engagements on the Yemen crisis, it seems Nawaz Sharif has gone to the UK for a break. Such official visits are planned and announced much in advance with agreed agenda but his sudden departure points to rest/recreation and looking after his personal matters.
The PM was received at the Heathrow Airport by a junior British official. Nawaz also attended the Gallipoli celebrations that was not our war. Besides, he also paid a courtesy call on the British prime minister. Perhaps Nawaz wants to supersede the record of foreign visits set by Asif Zardari – all at taxpayers’ expense.
