PESHAWAR: A two-day national conference on recent advances and new horizons in chemistry kicked off at the Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Auditorium of the University of Peshawar (UoP) on Monday.
The workshop is aimed at exploring new horizons in the field of chemistry with specific reference to Nano Technology, Material and Environmental Sciences, Chematography and Spectroscopic techniques.
More than 200 chemists and scientists of almost all the universities and research institutions of Pakistan are participating in the moot.UoP Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. “All sciences revolve around chemistry and it would not be wrong to say that chemistry is the mother of all sciences,” said the vice-chancellor.
He said it was important for the young scholars to learn new things by participating in the interactive sessions in conferences and workshops.The vice-chancellor appreciated the efforts of the National Centre of Excellence in Physical Chemistry for organizing the event.
The speakers included Dr Irshad Hussain of LUMS, Dr Muhammad Shahid of Agricultural University, Faisalabad and Dr Fida Muhammad of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology.
