ADELAIDE, Australia: Guinness Book of World Records have recently posted a video of the world’s longest bicycle, a record that was set in annual Tour Down Under cycling race held in Adelaide, Australia.
The bicycle was constructed by gas and oil company Santos, in collaboration with University of South Australia. The bicycle was 135 ft, 10.7 inches long, the length of two bowling lanes.
The requirement of the bicycle was that the bike should be able to walk 100 meters without touching the ground. After several failed attempts by the riders, they were finally able to gain balance and composure and actually drive the bicycle.
The record was no easy feat. It took nine months of planning, training and execution to pull it off. Features of the bicycle include metal frame, two wheels and handlebars and no stabilizers.
The longest bicycle is pretty much operated in the same way as any normal bicycle is operated with pedals and a chain.
