Actor-producer Adnan Siddiqui loves to experiment with characters and genres. Some of his recent projects such as Sammi in which he essayed the role of a hitman and Seeta Bagri that had an Indo-Pak background are a proof of the artist’s diversity. Another addition to the list is his upcoming period drama, Ghughi that not only stars the actor as the protagonist but has also been produced under his own banner, Cereal Entertainment.

Siddiqui recently shared the first look poster of the play, designed by Abdullah Haris, on his official Instagram handle to announce the project. He revealed that Ghughi aims at depicting an intense romance saga between a Muslim and a Hindu with all their fears, differences, morals and traditions at stake.

“It’s a period play based on Amrita Pritam’s novella,” Siddiqui told Instep on the sidelines of a recent event. “After Dastaan nobody began to make period dramas. With Ghughi we aim to explore the genre yet again; it was a challenging task for a private production as opposed to channels but everyone was very supportive throughout the journey. Directed by Iqbal Hussain and written by Amna Mufti, it stars a new actor Amar Khan who has studied film abroad. She is an intelligent woman, a great actor as well as scriptwriter. The play will go on air sometime in January.”

Siddiqui also spoke about Sridevi’s mention of him and Sajal Aly while she was receiving the Best Actress Award at the Zee Cine Awards 2018. He said, “She is a kind and sensible lady and she has proved this time and again. She never forgets to mention our names and she misses us.”
