Bara IDPs repatriation next month, says governor

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakh- tunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan on Monday said that the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency would return to native areas next month.
He also announced a package of Rs850 million to ensure the provision of health and
education facilities, electricity and basic amenities for
Bara subdivision in Khyber Agency.
The governor said, “Expeditious repatriation of IDPs is our top priority and the
government is aware of the problems which displaced people have been facing and would use all available resources for their assistance, rehabilitation and expeditious resettlement.”
He expressed these views while talking to the reporters during his day long visit to Bara subdivision to review the arrangements for repatriation of Bara IDPs to their homes, said a handout.
Besides, Inspector General of Frontier Corps Maj-Gen Tayyab Azam, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Fata Azam Khan, Khyber Agency Political Agent Syed Shahab Ali Shah, civil and military officials and others were also present on the occasion.
A detailed briefing was also given to the governor about the arrangements for return of IDPs and progress of operation “Khyber I” in Khyber Agency.
The governor expressed satisfaction over the progress of the operation “Khyber I”. He lauded the sacrifices rendered by the Pak Army, FC and security personnel in fight against terrorism.
The governor urged the tribal people and elders to be conscious of their responsibilities for sustainable peace and stability in the area,
saying this would mark a new beginning of progress in the region.
During his visit to different areas of Bara subdivision; Speen Qabar, Kandao and Fort Salop, the governor reviewed the arrangements for timely repatriation of IDPs to their homes and also stressed rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure in Khyber Agency in

particular and Fata in general.
The governor stated he was trying his best to ensure the early reopening of Bara Bazaar and rehabilitation of economic activities. He said the repatriation of IDPs of Bara would start from Feb 15.
He said that tribal people had rendered great sacrifices by leaving their homes during the ongoing war against terrorism.
Inspecting the confiscated weapons from terrorists during the military operation, the governor said the endeavours of the security forces in the war against terrorism and extremism were admirable.
Lauding the spirit of
the tribal people who left
their homes for restoration of peace and stability in the region, the governor said, he was quite conscious of the complexities and miseries through which the people of Bara had gone.
Sardar Mahtab maintained that with the active support and cooperation of the Pakistan Army, FC, security forces, stability in real sense would be restored and damaged infrastructure re-constructed.
The governor said the displaced people would be re-settled in own homes and socio-economic uplift activities revived.
