Advanced countries like Japan, Germany, England, France, Holland and America have been achieving rapid development because, among other things, they have their local languages to communicate and teach their people.
Why has Urdu not acquired its full status as a national language? The answer is simple: successive governments have failed to accord Urdu its rightful status in educational institutions, offices and courts. As a result, English continued to enjoy the status of official language. The government is therefore requested to take phased steps to make Urdu our official language.
