PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Durrani on Saturday said that Islamic States (IS) or Daesh group had no presence in KP. The banned outfits carry out terror activities in the name of IS.

Briefing the media on the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) actions in the province, the KP IGP said that CTD arrested over 1,200 terrorists during the last two years, out of them, 120 were carrying head money. He said that during 2016, 190 incidents of terrorism were reported which indicated the terrorism graph had come down in the province.

Rejecting the reports about Daesh presence in KP, the IGP said that there was no truth in the reports.

He said that Daesh had no presence in the province and the other banned outfits were carrying out activities in the name of Daesh. He added that CTD had arrested many such terrorists.
