PESHAWAR: Gas leakage caused fire in an office at the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar (BISEP) offices early Thursday morning, injuring one person.
The records, however, remained safe. The Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire in less than half an hour, an official said.
BISEP Chairman Dr Mohammad Shafi told The News that a sweeper, Iqbal Masih, entered an office in the morning for cleanliness and as soon as he switched on the light, fire erupted in the room. The fire was, however, not very huge in intensity and it was extinguished soon, he said. The sweeper sustained some minor injuries and he has been discharged from the hospital after receiving first-aid. The chairman said that the fire caused damage to some furniture and electricity, which were later repaired.
