MINGORA: A local non-governmental organisation, Climate Change Warriors, has actively participated in a tree plantation drive in the Aligrama area of Kabal tehsil in Swat district.

Officials said the initiative was aimed at combating climate change and mitigating the impacts of global warming through the plantation of native trees.During the campaign, they said, the organisation planted Chinar and Deodar trees in a local graveyard. Emphasis was placed on collective national responsibility toward environmental sustainability and the significance of tree planting for future generations.

Muhammad Hilal, a social worker who took part in the plantation, stated, “Planting trees is not only essential for the environment but is also the responsibility of every citizen.” Azizul Haq Khan, an environmental activist, highlighted the urgency of climate action. “Climate change is an undeniable reality. As a developing country, we must recognise the importance of trees and take action at the national level before we face severe consequences,” he added.Addressing the spiritual aspect of the initiative, Qari Murad said, “Planting trees is a noble act in Islam.”
