Abubakar Talha wins ITF Junior title

ISLAMABAD: Abubakar Talha edged out Nadir Mirza 6-3,7-5 to win the boys’ single in the ITF Pakistan Zainab Ali Naqvi Memorial World Juniors Tennis Championship 2025 at the PTF Tennis Complex Saturday.

After winning the first set Abubakar faced tough resistance from Nadir but stayed cool to win the title.

In the boys double final Nadir Mirza / Mikaeel Ali Baig beat Abubakar Talha/Luke Jie Xi Ho of Singapore 6-3,6-4 and won the championships.

In the girls double final Haniya Aman Minhas-KSA / Zihan Feng-CHN beat Aruzhan Bayalina / Sofiya Malysheva-KAZ 6-1,6-2 and won the the Championships.

The championship was dedicated to the memory of Zainab Ali Naqvi, a promising young tennis player from Karachi who tragically passed away on February 12, 2024, during an ITF Junior Tournament in Islamabad.

The event served as a heartfelt tribute to her passion and dedication to the sport.

The closing ceremony was attended by Aisam UL Haq Qureshi President-PTF, as the Chief Guest. Mr. and Mrs. Ali Naqvi, the parents of Zainab Ali Naqvi, were present as Guests of Honour.

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, congratulated all the winners and runners-up, stating, “I am extremely proud that three of our boys played in the finals.

This achievement reflects the promising direction our junior talent is heading toward.

Hosting an ITF championship in memory of Zainab is the most meaningful way to honour her legacy.”

Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail, Secretary PTF, also extended his congratulations to the winners, runners-up, and their families for their outstanding performances.
